Field Trip!

After a great book discussion on Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass, the LFHS B (Books) & B (Breakfast) went to see the movie of the same title on Friday, December 7th, 2007. It's a given fact that when a book comes to the silver screen, that there will be changes in the story. The Golden Compass isn't an exception. The critics are split when it comes to the movie. Read the following reviews: Chicago Tribune, New York Times, and Entertainment Weekly.

Due to the book's religious controversy, the director of the movie decided to take out the controversial material. Do you think the director succeeded? What did you think of the movie? Did it change the message of the book and its sequels? Would you recommend it?
